Sean  Thomas Carson Masters was born on June 20, 1994 in Austin, Texas. Within 30 minutes of his birth the doctors knew there was something seriously wrong with Sean. At three days of age Sean had a heart catheterization. 

Fast forward 13 years. Sean is a fun-loving 13 year old. Sean has been in and out of hospitals consulting with doctors about when the right time would be for the necessary repairs to Sean’s heart.  Sean’s team of doctors recently decided it is time to do a permanent repair of Sean’s damaged heart.  The problem?  Sean’s parents cannot afford to pay for the operation.  Debra and Jon are hard-working people who have been struggling with the “system” for years. Debra works two jobs and recently got a small raise. This should be good news.  However, with the raise Debra and Jon’s income just inched above the threshold for their state provided health insurance.  Debra’s insurance has a huge deductible.  So, they are facing- out-of-pocket medical bills in the range of $8,400!  This is money they did not have.

If you can help, any donation no matter how small, would move Debra and Jon one step closer to being able to give Sean his surgery without going further into debt.  In a land so rich, it’s shameful that hard working people can lose everything due to an illness.  And it’s absurd that getting a raise and working two jobs would cause a mother to lose the health insurance she had for a chronically and seriously ill child.

Thanks to generous donors, we have now raised the money necessary not only for the direct costs of Sean’s surgery but for the almost $3,000 in other expenses and lost wages the Masters will face.
